Roundwood Buyer (m/f/d)
Location: 74429 Sulzbach-Laufen
For you: a varied challenge
As a „roundwood buyer," you serve as the key link between the forestry sector, private forest owners, and the timber industry (sawmill industry).
They are responsible for the sustainable procurement of logs and coordinate the entire supply chain.
An Overview of Your Responsibilities
- You will independently source roundwood suppliers, establish new supply relationships, and unlock growth potential.
- They negotiate supply contracts with a strategic understanding of market conditions, quality, and costs.
- You manage wood procurement, scheduling, and logistics—key factors in the success of our roundwood supply.
- They ensure delivery standards and quality control, and oversee the entire processing chain through to delivery at the sawmill.
Your Responsibilities in Detail
- Posting roundwood invoices after verifying the prices
- Planning of additional trips
- Optimizing transportation costs
- Roundwood Measurement and Quality Control
- offering discounts when necessary
- Supporting management in roundwood price negotiations
- Creating roundwood credit memos and plant statements
- Overseeing the certification of the roundwood measuring system
- management of the receiving terminal
- Performing the duties of the PEFC representative (with regard to annual audits)
- Entering roundwood delivery slips

Requirements:
Vocational training:
- A completed vocational training program or degree in the field of wood science, forestry, business administration, or a comparable qualification.
Specialist knowledge:
- Experience in timber procurement, market analysis, or supply chain management is a plus; alternatively, a strong aptitude for sales or procurement.
- Proficiency in MS Office, combined with strong negotiation skills, assertiveness, and the ability to work independently and reliably.
- Class B driver's license.

- An eye for detail without losing sight of the big picture
