Boards from the sawmill

Common applications include cutting wood profiles and deck boards to size. Other finishing techniques include impregnation. Impregnated wood is weather-resistant and therefore durable. It is particularly suitable for outdoor use. In any case, it is possible to further process the boards after receiving them and, for example, paint them in any color.

The boards coming directly from the sawmill vary depending on how they are cut. Unedged boards are made from a tree trunk that retains its bark after passing through the frame saw or band saw and has not been edged or further processed. The bark gives the boards a decorative appearance, which is why they are often used to make fences, decorative elements, and furniture. Rough-sawn boards have a natural surface that is neither sanded nor planed. When you run your fingers over it, the wood feels rough against the skin. The matte sheen gives the product a rustic look. These boards are well-suited for installing an exterior wood siding. If the board is rough-sawn, it absorbs paints and varnishes particularly well. Smooth-edged boards are planed smooth on all sides and often feature subtly chamfered edges. Many people find this style particularly attractive and enjoy using these products for interior paneling.

Buying boards directly from the sawmill makes sense for a variety of purposes. Customers include operators of biomass cogeneration plants as well as traditional lumber wholesalers and the pulp, prefabricated home, pellet, and wood-based materials industries. The boards are also useful for the packaging industry. They serve as the basis for the production of wooden packaging, crates, and pallets, thereby enabling the transport of heavy goods and machinery. Plywood made from glued boards is also in high demand. The sturdy cross-laminated timber panels are easy to work with. Tongue-and-groove boards and other profiles are also available upon request.
