Log cutter (m/f/d)
Location: 74429 Sulzbach-Laufen

For you: a varied challenge

The log cutter is a key position that combines manual work (during inspection) with modern wood technology (at the plant) in order to get the most out of the raw material wood.

Tasks:

  • Preparation, installation and operation of the log yard: Control of the fully automatic system for sorting and measuring logs.

  • Quality assessment: Visual quality control and classification of spruce, fir or hardwood logs according to quality classes (log quality, curvature, knottiness) as well as documentation of deviations and defects.

  • Machine operation & EDP: Control of the cross-cut system as well as control via 3D measuring systems and monitoring of the debarking process.

  • Material logistics: Coordination of incoming raw timber, sorting into sorting boxes and feeding the sawing line.

  • Maintenance & care: Checking and cleaning the system to minimize downtimes and ensure that the system is ready for operation.

  • Safety standards: Reviewing safety regulations and ensuring safety standards.

Professional requirements:

  • Vocational training: Ideally completed training in the wood industry (e.g. woodworking mechanic, sawmill operator, forester or comparable training). However, career changers who are willing to learn are also very welcome!

  • Specialist knowledge: Ideally good knowledge in the determination of wood species and wood qualities or willingness to familiarize yourself with the field of „plant operation“ and the „product wood“.

  • Technical understanding: Ability to understand and control machines and carry out quality controls.

  • Good self-organization

  • High sense of responsibility

  • Accurate and efficient way of working

  • An eye for detail without losing sight of the big picture

  • Constructive and effective collaboration with colleagues within and across departments to achieve production targets
